Learning is a journey and it should be open and available to all who choose to follow where it leads. As a former public school teacher, I passionately support the work that classroom teachers do every day. Unfortunately, while they machete a broad path through the academic jungle, there are many students who need to find their own way or take side trips to other sights.
One-on-one tutoring provides a unique opportunity for these students, whether they are currently in school or are returning from another path, to look at ideas and approach their learning experience from their own direction. It frequently encourages greater confidence and deeper learning of material than when students reluctantly follow the mainstream.
As a lifelong learner myself, I know that I have had wonderful experiences in both the classroom and one-on-one settings and I encourage all people and students to find the combination that will work best and help them to become most excited and inspired along their educational journey. My role in this is to help my students find that combination and serve as a guide as they continue along that path.
